4850 -> 6850, worthy upgrade?

I have a E8400, I think (3Ghz DC) machine and some games are choking my 4850 at 1080P. The 6850 is in my price range (<$200). Is this sane?

Yeah, good upgrade. The 5850 much faster than your 4850, and the 6850 performs around the same ballpark.

Check this, close as I could get.

I'd also OC your E8400 if you could. It's probably holding back your fps just a tad, and it should hit 3.6Ghz no problem.

Excellent upgrade!
I went from a 4850 to a 5770 and saw improvements!

Then from the 5770 to the 6850 and still had smoother framerate in my games.

You'll enjoy it a lot!

Sounds good, looking at the HIS on Amazon. I have not kept up with all the 3rd party vendors, I assume they are all decent.

XFX is on board with ATI now, and they're awesome. I usually buy Visiontek myself, but that's only because they're cheaper.
