4850, 2x 4850 or GTX295?

Which one is the best interim card to hold off until the 28nm cards come out? I can get 2x 4850s for about $125 shipped, a GTX 295 for about $115 shipped, and 1x 4850 for about $60-70. Which one will be the best one to hold me until 28nm radeons/geforces? Because this single 9600GT I'm currently using right now is way too slow. If I do end up getting the 4850s, I will be able to sell one, and use the other in my HTPC, but if I end up getting a GTX295, I will have a slightly harder time selling it.

Also, how much performance will each of these setups give me over a single 9600GT?

EDIT: I play Source games, LOL, Call of Duty and Bad Company 2 at 1920x1200 maximum settings.

2x 4850 would only be around the performance of a GTX280-285 or so. I think the GTX295 wold be your best bet in terms of performance.

Of course the GTX295 is a beast when it comes to power consumption and heat output, you might have a harder time finding a use for it once it's no longer in your main computer.

None. You made it this far with your current card, just hold on another few months..

Nah. I used to have a 6950. I sold it and used my old 9600GT as an interim. Now I realize it's too slow, and that I need something better for the time being. I can get both 2x 4850 and a gtx 295 for $115 shipped.

Also, how much performance will a single 4850 get me over a single 9600GT?

Okay, but i'm getting 30-40 fps in cod, experiencing some slowdowns in LoL and source games. Bad Company 2 is unplayable. I need something that will get me 60+ fps in everything, except maybe bad company. I may just lower the settings on Bad Company.

Well in that case I'd go for a used 5770, they can be had for around 70$ shipped (or lower, I sold mine at ebay for 59$ :().
Great value and you would probably sell them at the same price too.

Okay I've decided that I'm definitely not buying the 4850s, after I read the reviews.

I can't find any 5770s for under $70 on ebay (they won't be under 70 by the time the bid ends).

I can't find any 4870s or 4890s either. Is the GTX295 really the only thing i have then?

115 is fantastic for a gtx 295 - almost as fast as a hd 6950. If your power supply can handle it, you should jump on it. You will probably manage to resell it for at least that amount after the 28s hit the stores, so you're not wasting any money either.
