4850 1GB vs. 4770 512MB

About a $40 difference in price.

Ideally, I would get a 4770 1GB but it does not exist...yet.

I like the 1GB of the 4850 but also like the added efficiency/cooler running 4770.

Opinions?


I don't do too much gaming lately...probably work more in PhotoShop with 8.0 Megapixel/Raw images...will be higher MPX images when I finally upgrade my DSLR.

The 4770 will be fine at 19x12 for PhotoShop with just 512 MB. Neither card has the power to game at 19x12 for newer games, so the extra RAM doesn't really help the 4850.

how does the 4770 compare to an 8800gt @ 19x12?

Both are really 16x10 cards, but the 4770 is faster than a 9800GT and the 4770 will be playable at 19x10 for some games:

The 8800GT is no match for the HD 4770 which trade blows with the GTS 250 aka 9800GTX.
