I finally got my Dell and ran 3dmark05 on it. I left all the settings at the defalts with all the windows/dx9/ati updates. So is 4838 a decent score for a PCI-e card or did I get ripped off?

that may or may not be low. make sure AF and AA are off in control panel. when these features are off, you will cruise on up into the high 5000's. if you still can't get up there, your system is not fully optimised; you got the hardware, but your drivers aren't up to date/speed/snuff.

That is still a little low for that card. I have a64 3200 with a 6800 gt overclocked to ultra and I scored around 5500. Im guessing you payed out the a$$ on that dell set up too.

He also said he left all of his settings default, which means he didnt lower every setting to get a higher score, like you did. Nor did he overclock the card, like you did.

Did anybody notice that he's talking about the PCI-E version of X800XT,which has significantly lower performance than X800XTPE?
I find your score if not normal just a bit low.

P4 2.6 @ 3.25 ghz, 1 gb ram, BFG 6000 NU OC with all pipelines enabled, slightly overclocked, I get 3950 in 3dmark2005 without any hotfix.

Your score sounds fine to me.

With ATI's beta Catalyst driver 8.07 my 3DMark2005 v1.1 score went from 4,600 to 6,077. Not bad, eh? Your score is very low but then you are using a non-gaming CPU.:)

Its within the normal range. You can get higher, but ud have to tweak ur system a bit. Its normal for the settings, drivers and setup u have.
