Is there really a noticeable improvement of the regular clocked 480's opposed to the super clocked versions say from evga? I only ask because if someone is spending that much on a card an extra $30 markup I believe isn't hard to swallow.

The clock speed increase roughly corresponds to the performance increase in GTX480s.
So if it was 5% extra clock, it would be pretty much 5% extra performance, so it depends on how much higher the clocks are. If it's >6% (or ~40MHz) and you don't want to overclock yourself, then it would be worth it in terms of price/performance (also depends on whether it has a different heatsink to stock which might also be good value if you do want to overclock yourself).

In most instances they are not much of a boost in speed with a little better cooling solution. My 9800 GT superclocked had identical cooling solution, ran a tad hotter then my basic 9800 GT. I was able to oC my 9800 basic to the same level but not as far as the 9800t superclocked...So they are likely tested as better chips.

I would hope the 480gtx superclocked came with a better cooling solution if they plan on ocing a bit.

My 470 gtx I have been able to ramp up with no voltage boost 652/1304/1700 from 607/1214/1654(?). I have seen like a 2c higher load temp.

It has been folding for a few days now now stop and loaded at 74c...stress test that came with my card pegged it at 88c.
