I am sorry for this post, I searched the archeive and found that 42 C is good. But what about 49C? The CPU runs at 42.7C when idling, 49, under normal load(IE MP3 playing, and word processing)

I have an AMD 1700+ retail, with retail fan, Epox 8KHA+, 512 DDR 2100 Crucial Ram, GF2 MX400, Nikao Noblesse Case, 340W AMD Approved Case. No overclocking. I had the RAM set to Turbo, and was getting memory dumps.

Maybe, I used to have a celeron 566 OC'ed to 850, and that only ran at 33C

its doubtful that 48.9 on an 8kha+ caused heat related issues unless you have an extremely low ambient case temp.

That temp isn't bad considering you're using the retail HSF with thermal pad. Don't worry about it.

Yeah, they are fine. However, If you really want to lower them get a new heatsink and some arctic silver compound. With a coolermaster hhc-001 and arctic silver 3, my 1800+ oc'd to 2000+ idles at 31.
