288. Only things INSIDE parentheses come first. One number touching a parenthetical statement is just the same as putting a multiplication sign there.

The answer would only be 2 if it was written as:

48÷(2[9+3])

Multiplication and division are evaluated left to right, one does not come before the other.

WRONG. It is written just like you suggest it should be.

You people need to fucking learn your order of operations.



It's 48 / ((2*9) + (2*3)), completely as written. Distributive operations have precedence. Though given the actual textual representation used, the operation is ambiguous at best.

officially it would be 288 however when written it would not look like that's since that is just asking for trouble.
The two would either be bracketed with what was intended to go with or on the bottom.
