478 t0 775 upgrade

well i hope to finally upgrade from my 478 mobo agp system to a 775 socket pci-e intel system. yeah i know its about time lol so if you will tell me if my choices are alright. just upgrading to a basic gaming rig. stable and dependable..... gigabyte P35-DS3L mobo, Intel E4500 cpu, Crucial Ballistix 2x1gig ddr2-pc6400 and finally an MSI GeForce 8600GTS 256 graphics card.

everything else i have i will reuse.

edit: i just realized this should have probably gone in the general folder. sorry for that mistake.

Skip the 8600GTS. Look for the 3850, 1950Pro, or if you can put a few more $$ in, the 8800GT. The 8600GTS is just terrible for modern gaming, like the 2600XT. ALL of the first DX10 cards other than the 8800/2900 are basically garbage, outperformed by older parts.

thanks for the tip on the video card. i will consider an ati card too.
