Got an evga 470 sc. This morning it froze right after I logged into windows with a green screen. I looked around and saw a few others had the same issue but nothing conclusive on how to fix it. I'm on the 197 drivers. My computer is 100% stable for months now with my overclock and never had this issue with my 5850. Any help appreciated.

So you gotta GSOD green screen of death? Nvidia bashers will be by later to help you :)

Waking up from sleep? Fresh boot?

I doubt it has anything to do with your overclock.

It was a fresh boot and it was the first time it's happened. The 470 is at it's stock clocks. I know 100% that my overclock (CPU and ram) is stable.

Duh, that's the way it's meant to be played ;)

As a basic rule of troubleshooting thumb, if it happens again, back everything to stock (CPU and RAM) and see if it happens again.

At least that way you eliminate any overclocks and can work up a good head of righteous anger at the eventually located offending piece of hardware and software that much quicker :)

Yeah it's been a one time thing. I'm gonna go back to stock settings CPU and ram then install the new 257 drivers and hope for the best then fire up bioshock 2 to be certain.:)

Did a restore to a known good system image and reverted back to stock cpu ram settings and everything works great so far. Not sure what happened?

Bah, I had a few random hard freezes and after some digging found out that the HPET in Win 7 was borked, probably came from overclock testing.

No it was a solid screen freeze. I downloaded furmark and ran it in stability testing for 10 min with no artifacts. Then I decided to run it in extreme mode for 12 min and no artifacts.

Am I just supposed to run furmark and watch for artifacts?

The max temp was 93c.

Also ran 30 minutes of bioshock 2 maxed out at 1080p. Then I ran 3d mark vantage. I had no issues with anything since the system image restore and the 257 drivers. At this point is it safe to assume the card is okay?

Ya, I would just carry on and not worry about the Vidcard as the fault here. Could be VidCard Drivers, but it could be many other things as well, including just some kind of glitch. I would ignore it for now, until it happens again.

Of course, it could be the NB on your mobo freaking out and going bad, but I don't believe you want to think about that. I had a board that did that, it was fine for a long time and then it spazzed. Had to replace it under warranty.
