I have some FPS concerns with my 4600. I just took out a Geforce 3 and installed a MSI Geforce 4 4600. When I first benchmarked Quake 3 I got 210fps but some how I lost my sound card. I reinstalled my sound card and rebenched and now I only get 167fps. That is only 7fps more than I got with my G3. I did get about 2100 more points in 3dMark 2000. I have installed drivers 3 times. Does this seem right? Here is my current set up:

XP 1800@1621
Msi K7T266a Pro2 RU
512 Crucial PC2100
MSI Geforce 4 4600
DET 28.32 (with refresh rate fix)
Nvidia refrate fix set to 75mhz
AGP ap set to 128 (tried 64)
Win XP Pro

You are mostly cpu limited, is all. If you want to see the difference, then benchmark both cards with AA turned on, or at a higher resolution. The fact that you gained 7 fps just means that there are a few momentary places in the demo where the extra rendering power can be used.

That does not sound too far off - depending on the resolution.

By the way - how do you like the MSI card? I ordered one last week and it still has not shipped because they were out of stock - it is supposed to go out next day air today.

Any opinions on the quality, features, etc?

The MSI card seems to have a really good balance between features and price (now $339 from fticomputer.com)

Thanks

David

So far It is awesome. I have not been able to Play with It too much. I am concerned with my Q3fps(1024x768) I was expecting something close to 200fps( comparing to reviews I have seen)
