$46 more over eVGA 7800 GTX for KO version

If I'm gonna buy 7800 GTX then I might as well buy KO version. Is it really worth investing 550 bux for a graphic card? I can almost buy two PS3s or xbox 360s for that. I need opinions.

No you can't. The PS3 is going to be around $600 when it comes out.

And no, it's not worth it. Get a BFG 7800GTX and you can overclock it to the same as the eVGA.

You can't buy a PS3 or Xbox360; they are not available for sale. They're also consoles, and not really comparable goods.

Whether or not a good graphics card is worth $550 to you is a question only your values and wallet can answer.

Some will say yes, some no, you'll pick whoever agrees with the decision you had already made and post "I agree with you ATer X! I'm going to a. wait for a XBox 360 (easy path- costs nothing) b. buy the card (hard path, have to part with the cash)

46 bucks for a piece of perforated sheet metal. Thats all it is.
Core runs 490 and mem is 1300 which 7800GTX's are getting with standard coolers. But most important, you don't need to o/c a 7800GTX. Save your 46 bucks for a stick of 512. Or an NV Silencer 7 when it's available.

Please don't fall for this BS.

7800gtx is fast enough already. no games could support an overclock either! the ps3 will NOT be 600 bucks if they want normal people to buy it.

$48 isnt much, a little more than an after market cooler. I would probably just get their standard version though, and wait for AC's version of the new silencer.

I do like eVGA's new and improved warranty.

Warranty is something that we have not touched on much in the past. We think that this plays a role in card value, especially given EVGA's new policy. We mentioned in the last article that as of June 22, EVGA is offering a lifetime warranty for all of its cards. BFG also offers a warranty, but apparently, EVGA's is different in that it covers any damage to the card as long as it's not physical. So, for instance, if the EVGA card is damaged by trying to overclock it too high, or if lightning fries it because it was not protected by a surge protector, EVGA will replace it free of charge while BFG will not. MSI's warranty is only good for three years, with basically the same conditions as BFG. Depending on the user, three years may be longer than the "lifetime" of the card, but covering all but physical damage is a definite win for EVGA. Aside from power surge, overclock and heat damage, they'll even cover a failed video BIOS flash (we asked). You can find more information about each manufacturer's warranty policy at their respective websites.

My next card, if NV, could very well be eVGA. Ive always got BFG's beause of their great warranty, and factory overclocks, but probably not next time.

the argument is that you're basically paying for the better warranty. don't buy it for it's "superior cooling capabilities" because there is nothing new or superior about the design of the cooler, it's just a metal plate with a puny cooler underneath.

Sug retail price for both consoles are between 300-400 right now. Of course it's being debated still, but good god man you couldn't be more wrong.

Just get a 6800GT or a 800XL. You can do great gaming, save money and see what the future holds. Keep in mind, the 7800 is CPU limited at this point. By the time the next core release for processors arrive, something better will come along in the video market. Its been like this for years. Only a fool who doesnt care to waste money would jump on the 7800 only to find out later, he should waited. Many forums are full of those threads.

Anand has already stated in their reviews that overclocking the core doesn't add to any tangilbe performance gain. So what difference does it make if you can get the core to 550Mhz?

Its also quieter and cooler than the other 7800s.. but seriously the new Asus 7800 GTX top edition looks like it will cool ALOT better.. oversized NV silencer...😀

I would get it, it would be worth it.. looks cool too..

AT's review doesn't measure it to be appreciably quieter, and it's not cooler than the MSI GTX. I'd save the $, but then I don't have a window on the side of my case. 🙂
