NOTE: This is a nice list and is meant ONLY as an fyi for programs that you may not have seen, and not a 'statement' about which are actually the best, (and is certainly not meant to solicit hostile debates over which is better. 😉)

There are a number of free utilities that I hadn't seen before, including Blacklighta Rootkit scanner/cleaner, as well as oebackup, a thorough outlook express backup utility.

(If you do have serious concerns tho about a program, PLEASE post them.)

Very good. Book-marked for later. There's gotta be some hidden gems in there...

Excellent list...there's several things in there that I've not heard of previously. I'm DL'ing TheOpen CD right now and already find the hotkey and system resource programs useful.

I'm not slamming this post but most of that list is already available right inside Windows XP for free.

thanks...awesome list and bookmarked.

maybe the resource viewer and process lister but that's about it. ok a popup blocker in sp2 also, but by no means most of them. also i should add Restoration is a good freeware undelete prog. you don't see those everyday. 🙂

well i guess i see what you mean. wtf would i need a replacement for regedit? there is a lot of useful stuff though, like the indispensible rootkit detector.
