Hi. I am throwing a EVGA 9600gt in a computer. Powersupply is a 450watt Thermtake (or Thermalright I forget). It has 18A on the 12+ rail.

CPU is a Socket 939 single core. 2GB RAM. 1, 250 GB HDD.

Good enough? Newegg says min, of a 400 Watt.

You'd be taking a chance of blowing up your PSU,and Wattage Requirments are almost always thrown out of proportion.

You'll want at least a ANtec Earthwatts 430W or Corsair VX450W.

I had a Thermaltake 480Watt older power supply with 18Amps on the 12v that worked fine for my P4 3.0GHz rig for 4 yrs. I tried using it still when i upgraded my rig to what's in my signature below.

It seemed to work fine, but i'd get occasional hard lockups that i couldn't explain. After replacing the Thermaltake with a new Antec 550Watt Trio-power i've never had another lockup since then for over a year now.

I'd get a new one if i were you. :)

Well Fortron 350W from year 2002 could run Core2 E6300@3.04GHz + 8800 GTS 640MB@650/2000 so I think your Thermaltake 450W could run system that doesn't consume as much as my referenced system.

I have a 450 watt OCZ Modstream and ran a 8800 GTS 640 mb without any problems for a few months.
