I'm building up a mid-grade PC for a friend and he's on a pretty strict budget. I've typically bought AMD/nVidia systems, but completely willing to throw old allegences aside to help build the best system that $450 can buy. As he already has a case/otpical drive/hd, I'm only looking to pick up a Mobo/CPU/RAM (1GB) and Video Card

[edit] Just wanted to add that the PC would be used for standard applications and game use. Given the budget, he's not expecting crazy performance, but it should be able to at least play Oblivion in a moderate capacity.

asus A8N-E...A gig of samsung pc3200 and a 3200+/3700+ or X2 3800+...whichever you can afford with the leftover from the mobo.

Will he overclock? If not, scratch the PD. Swap the mobo and cpu for a A64 3200+/SiS Mobo (cheaper and still good performance). Definitely grab a 7600GT if you can swing it.

EDIT: Sempron 3100+ ($82), Biostar/ECS NF4 ($57), 1 gig G.Skill Value ram ($70), X1800XT ($259 after MIR) = $468

There will be no overclocking and I like the idea of the X1800XT -- appreciate the help.
