$450 Build Recommendations

I'm planning on building a new PC mainly for gaming, and I have a budget of about $450. I already have a monitor. I don't have a ton of time to play right now, and I'm not sure how into gaming I will get in the future. So I'd rather not spend more than this right now.

Questions:

1) I'd like to be able to play the latest games with this machine. Is this possible on this budget? I realize that I won't be able to play at max resolution, and I'm fine with that.

2) I have an 20in LCD with a native resolution of 1600x900. Is this a problem?

3) What would you recommend for components?
