Thats awesome looks like no work done to the motor. Lets see how reliable it is.

But dang thats sweet in a 2700 lbs car

It'll probably have a spectacular detonation soon and launch all 4 pistons through the frame taking the front wheels with them, but damn if that isn't hot while it still runs.

People get 400 HP out of the S2000 engine with stock head and block, so it wouldn't surprise me if an engine Subaru was planning to boost from the first stages of design could handle that power, too. Still, I don't want to be the guinea pig. ;)

I'm dropping some dough on this car as soon as Toyota or Subaru comes out with a factory bolt on kit.

ok, finally read the thread. they used corn juice and 20 psi. I wonder what the max would be on 91 pump gas. I'd like to see the dyno and see the afr's

are the engine blocks iron or aluminum?

You can spend money and do this with any car. The car is 75% hype.

*sigh* Have you driven one? No other new car under Porsche prices are as nice to drive as the BRZ/FRS. Look at the reviews if you don't believe me.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R does a 10.26 second 1/4 mile on pump gas for under $15k, no forced induction and no unreliable engine necessary.

What's so special about this? Pretty much any car can be modded to go fast. If this was a stock car, I would care. But modded car running e85? :D Just another riced out Scion.

NA Miata, yes. A new NC Miata, no. It has much more body roll and all the inputs are more rubbery, according to the comparisons that have been done. If you can't see that a low-slung, lightweight, RWD, turbocharged Japanese sports car is cool, then I can't help you.

Pretty much everything else that is comparable on the market in this price range is 600-800 lbs. heavier and with no feeling. The FR-S/BRZ hearkens back to the glory days of Japanese sports cars, and I hope it sells tons of units so that other manufacturers will follow suit and produce more RWD, cheap, lightweight SPORTS cars, not bloated GT cars like the 370Z, Mustang, and Genesis coupe.

I don't mean to sound like I'm trying to push what is really a subjective opinion on anybody, but I don't think people should make any statements about the FRS/BRZ until they actually drive one, because that is its main appeal, and in that regard it kills just about everything else out there. This thread shows that more power is just a turbo kit away. I would also be lying if I said I didn't want people to be fully informed about this car so that they can go out and BUY it, because the more of these on the used market, the better.

I think there are some leaks of a TRD supercharger kit for it that will be available next year.
It was in japanese

It seems a bit odd to me that such a "driver's car" would be so polarizing. It seems like some people just hate the idea of this car, bashing if for being underpowered stock and minimizing a modded one running low 11's. I don't what it is, a car sniffing 10.xx 1/4 mile times is SERIOUSLY fast. The truly astonishing part of this is that this car was never built with the drag strip being a priority. I'd LOVE to see what this car could do on the track (and if it could effectively use most of that power or just dissapear in a cloud of smoke as it goes spiraling off target).

Well, it is underpowered considering there isn't a forced injection option.. But I think this is sort of part of their strategy, let the tuners make their kits before they come out with some official turbo.

Either way, if these guys are making 300hp+ reliably as a ~$6k add-on then the car will be a hit. I like it.

I'll just slightly brush you off the road with my 18 second 1/4mile honda civic.

Yea, it's easy to ride fast on a bike until you hit or brush something. 100% dead.
