440LX is a good overclocker if the mobo maker put jumpers that support higher front side bus, and multipliers. It unofficially supported PC100, most manufacturers had the option to put it in there. Since your PC is a gateway and is most likely propietory it wont give you the option to overclock the system bus. If you want, buy one of these
Power Leap Adapters to use a 800 P3 on that old machine. You can go higher (1.4 Tualiton Celery) if you can somehow get to 100 FSB. Good luck man.
