I want to upgarde my cpu ,i was looking at the 800 slot 1 with a 256 cache secc 2 ,i have a slot kit MS-6905 ,but i don't think i want to go that way but if i did does it make any difference in speed, the other question is i also bought a Alpha P3125 heat sink and with a converter i don't know if i would have enough room on the MB for this heat sink with the converter. would it fit ???? the reason i ask is the fc-cpu is $60 cheaper then the slot 1 .

Depends on how much you want to spend. I just tried 2 600MHz Celerons on mine, theybothhit 900 at default voltage, and I pushed one to 1008MHz at 1.85v. Costs about $100 with a slocket and orb. I also did a p3e700@933 with default voltage, runs a lot cooler than the Celerons but twice the price (it was a retail CPU, the celeries were OEM).

The 3125 alpha is for slot 1 only so do not worry about using it with the MSI slotket, it will not work.
Slot 1 if fine also since you already have a nice alpha. The alpha may (I am not sure) block a DIMM slot but since the board has four, this should not be that much of a problem.
As far as cpu's are concern, look for your best deal. A 700@933 should cost about the same as a 800 @100 and give better performance. Good luck.

The ASUS is tight on the spacing. I can not use the first DIMM slot at all and the second one is right up against the fan on my Alpha PAL35 fan. I estimate that a slot 1 with the Alpha cooler would fit but would lose a DIMM. Not much of a problem since ASUS has four of them.

Grass, you're better off getting a guaranteed 700E @ 933 or 1000MHz, if you're gonna spend that kind of money. :) 800E's for the most part are tough to OC.

Thanks for the info on this , and yes i put it next to my slot 1 and it would cover up at least 2 DIMM's ,i also had to go and order a new case because of the power supply so i got the sx1030 case which that solves that problem ,but as you see in my other topic ,i had to ask some questions on the cpu's it got a little confusing when different sites show how their priceing them
