Hi,

I noticed through Real Temp 2.5 that my core temps at idle (light web browsing) jumps from 44 to 55oC. I am just wondering if I should I just ease off the overclock or are these temps normal? At full load it goes up to around 72oC. At the moment, the average room ambient temps are around 23-28oC.

I am now at 3.6GHz, 400x9 and Vcore 1.432V. Any advice?

Well, it's your CPU. I don't let mine get that hot, but how hot you want to let yours get is up to you. Most of us overclockers (though not all) don't want to see our cores above 70°C.

Problem is he's running a quad @ 3.6ghz on a AC Freezer. Summer's coming so you'll definitely want to ease the oc.
Otherwise, you could do something about the cooling like getting a better cooler than the Freezer. Xigmatek S1283 seems to be the cheapest of the best heatsinks.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Will look around for a HSF that fits in my case (considering the fact that I might upgrade my gfx card as well).

I have tried lowering the Vcore but anything below 1.432 just makes it unstable. Anything below 1.4, it won't even boot into Windows :(

I might ease it to the old 3.5GHz using 390x9.0 and hopefully it will be stable with much lower Vcores.

As for the HSF, I have been looking at Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme just wondering if it will fit in my Antec 900 if I plan to get a gfx around GX2 size (I don't know how big the new gfx coming out is gonna be)
