I know this score can't be right. I am scoreing 4335 on 3dmark2001SE/DX9 on a 1600+,256mb PC2100 and Radeon 8500. The 1600+ is overclocked to 166FSB(1.75Ghz) and of the course the ram is running at PC2700.

Am using default 3dmark settings. Checked to make sure FSAA was turned off and it was. Any ideas? I have latest 4in1's and Radeon 8500 drivers. Could it be DX9 causing the problem?

Do you have direct x 9 installed or 8?

I remember hearing something about 9 really cutting down performance alot on cards that dont support it, but I would have to look around to find out where..

if you have 9 installed, uninstall it and put in 8 or 8.1, then try again, see what the difference is (should be big)

I didnt think winxp pro came with DX 9 installed, if it does Im not sure. Im not an expert on this so perhaps someone else can fill in the blank. I would at least download 8x and try to install it.

lol just looked at microsofts web site and they said it can't be uninstalled once installed. It said to make a restore point before installing which I didnt.

Can someone confirm this is my problem before having to go back. I can go back to the 19th which was my last restore checkpoint. Luckly I havent done anything important other than installing a couple drivers and GTA3.

You can't uninstall DirectX. Once you got it you are stuck with. You'll have to reformat and reinstall everything.:frown:

Sweet it took me back to 8.1 at the cost of only a few installed apps that I can redo. Now lets see what I score.

Thanks

I would think your score would be at least double that, so I don't think DX 9 is the problem, but it could be a driver problem of some kind. 4335 is pretty bad. Are your games running extremely so? They would unless this is just a prob. with 3dmark.

8575 now which sounds much better. I guess another 256mb and a new video card should take me to or past the 10k mark heh?
