4200+ X2 or 4000+?

It's a gaming PC, not much else. BF2, Guild Wars, plus Oblivian, F.E.A.R. and Quake 4 to come...

Ordering from http://www.monarchcomputer.com/, the 4000+ is $100 cheaper.
I am happy to spend the $100 no problem if it will let me game longer without upgrading the CPU for a few years. Which should i get?
Edit: Oh, I will be OCing.

Depends. If it's only for gaming, the 4000+ will get you a higher overclock. But, when games get multi-threaded, the 4200+ might come in handy.

I would go for the 4400+, since it is only a little more expensive than the 4200+ and you get the 1MB of cache. If you plan to keep the rig for at least 1-2 years, this will get you better gaming performance vs. the 4000+, as more games are developed for multithreading.

I might go for the 4400, except for the fact that Monarch has it listed for $100 more than the 4200...

I believe MSRP is only $50 more. Maybe you should look around a little more.

I am Canadian, I can order from Monarch or NCIX... not any others that I know of without charging an arm and a leg for international shipping.

X2 4400:
Monarch - $640
ZipZoomFly - $660

If you can wait a few weeks, I believe prices will come down some for the X2 4400+ b/c more places will carry it which will hopefully drop the prices of the places you can buy from in Canada.

I guess my biggest question would be: if I get a 4200 now, would I be kicking myself in the future for not getting a 4400 for the 1MB cache?
