running the 56.55 dets, will i have to do anything with them or just take out the 4200 and put in the 5900?

also, which version of 3dmark 2003 lets the nvidia optimizations/cheats work for higher scores? i got a friend i want to impress that does not know about the optimization controversy

You have to reinstall the drivers when you do that. And I think to get the cheated scores on 3dmark 2003 you need the first release and probably a certain driver version of the Detonators. Good luck to you cheater!

:D Use Dets/Forcewares higher than 52.16 on 3DM03v330 to see nV's "optimized compiler tech" in full effect mode. The 56.55s should be fine for bending the spoon--er, rules.

(nV fans: There is no spoon!!!!11)

Sorry to hear that, at least BFG has good support though...I plan on buying from them fairly soon.

I wonder if they tried to send you a RMAed card?

I've always just pulled the old nV part and put in the new one, without touching the drivers. Mind you that this is not the reccomended way to do it and it supposedly can cause problems(I've never run in to any though). Windows will redetect the board and reinstall the drivers when you boot with the new board anyway.

When I went from 4200 to 5900, I uninstalled the nVidia drivers in the control panel, changed cards, then reinstalled the drivers. Works well.

When I went from a Ti4600 to my 5900, I had to reinstall the drivers, but you shouldn't have to run Driver Cleaner or anything, just uninstall normally.
