I think I could prove statistically that hospitals and doctor's offices order too many medical tests and then over-inflate their cost which affects all this data. The Medical industry is ripe with fraud committed by doctors and malpractice in the way the order unneeded medical tests because they don't know how to diagnose patients.

Worst of all, is that it takes the insurance companies months to figure out what exactly they will pay. This makes it really hard to pay medical bills on time. Then they write some article like this and try to blame everything on the patient. The cards are stacked against the patient. So if some hospital claims you owe thousands send in a payment in the amount of $50 or $100 and keep paying it and the Hospital will just write down the payment to an amount that is more realistic.

My medical visits are processed within 5 business days and I receive an email informing me it's been finalized. After I receive the email I can see what I owe, normally it's the same as the copay I already paid at the doctor's office the day of my visit.
