I previously posted this on another thread but since this combines quite a few other stuff besides the cendyne drive I thought I might post it in a new thread.

Go to Officemax.com Search: 20160442 for the 40x12x48 Cendyne CDRW and both of the Hi-Val 50 pk CDR and Belkin network PCI card which can be found on the front page.

The deal works out to be like this:
$119.99 cdrw drive + $15 cdrs + $10 network card = $144.99

- $15 cdr rebate - $10 belkin rebate - $20.00 Instant Rebate - $40.00 Cendyne Manufacturer's Mail-In Rebate - $30.00 off $150 coupon = $50.

Update: ok add Cyber Acoustics 2-Piece Speaker System $9 to PUSH your total PASS $150 total to use the 30 off 150 coupon.
 
If the rebate dates are different, am I eligible for another rebate,
this time, for the 40X model? The rebate form states that this is
for either the 40x or 32x, and someone said that you can't take
advantage of both.

I already took advantage of the 32x model rebate offer of May.

its $119 because of the "$20 instant rebate" listed in DTBH's deal above.
 
Yups I did notice that it is 139 but as schuang74 said I did reflect a 20 instant rebate 🙂.

I just made the order! It did NOT work w/ just the three!

when you add the three items that you have listed...you do not get the $30 off of $150. K? I'm not just suggesting that it won't work. It does NOT work. mmmmkay? 😉

It's a great deal for those that believe in OfficeMax Rebates. None of my 8 rebates showed up(small ones). I am slowly losing faith in all but Staples original MIR's.

Precisely. yeah, I think that I had to add like 6.xx or something like that. Anyway, the Slimlines fit the bill perfectly and I got a second 25 pack to boot! 😀 If anyone is interested, there's also a 100 pack for $20.00 on OM's site.

this looks like a great deal that i'm about to jump on. about to.

how do we know if the cendyne's are rebadged lite-on's? or are all cendyne's flashable with lite-on firmware? can we return .com bought merchandise to the retail store?

It goes by rebate #, being the offer. This is my 3rd O'max rebate, one received, one approved waiting 30 days. I just had to open a new account, for the $25 off. ...and I wont trust the CDR rebate from HiVal.

Huh? How are you supposed to get a CD burner running faster than its rated speed? You can't "overclock" a drive like you'd overclock a computer (not that you'd overclock a computer if you cared about the proper functioning of your computer).

It's worth noting that the 40x and 48x burners from Lite-On are fairly different...the 40x (like the 32x) is a Z-CLV design, while the 48x is a CAV design. The 32x and 40x burners will pause up to three times during a burn to shift to faster speeds if you're burning at anything faster than 16x. The 48x burner, OTOH, constantly increases burn speed as you get away from the center. If you figured you'd just try ramming the 48x firmware into a 40x drive, I doubt that it'd work.

Actually, you are wrong. With a simple firmware upgrade you get a 48x drive from a 40 or 32x lite-on cdr's. It is best to do this with a 40x drive as the 40x is the EXACT same as the 48x except for the firmware while the 32x is a fair bit different hardware wise. Check out this review for it

Spike,I just checked Liteon's site and they don't have the 48X CD-RW drive firmware even listed.So where do you get the firmware?
 
For those who needs to bump up to $150 for the order but don't trust Hi-Val rebate or don't need the cheepie speakers, you can order up to 3 Belkin NICs!🙂 Belkin rebates are slow too, but you can track it at www.web-rebates.com/belkin/. Or call them at 1-800-615-2732.
BTW, good deal, thanks DTBH. If I hadn't bought 3 burners in the last 6 months, I would've jumped in right away...
 
Couple things about overclocking...

1. Liteon 32123S can not be overclocked..note the "3"..different chipset..

2. 32125W, 40125S, 40125W can be overclocked ..same hardware and chipset. as the 48125W ....the 32x iset in firmware to burn at 32x.. ..etc

3. there is new firmware from Liteon on there website to make the a 40125S a P-CAV and Mt. Rainier supported drive..this is officical firmware update from Liteon website...so 40125S and 40125W are just different firmware..5W allows PCAV and Mt Rainier out of the box...

so if you get a 40125S you will need to flash the drive in dos with 48x firmware and you will have a 48x cdrw and will be able i nthe future to just update with the 48x firmware

please note the 48x writes are very media dependent...some 32x and 24x media will burn no faster than 40x and if you try a coaster may occur..as liteon updates firmware with better cdr media support this will get better

I've tested and found these CD-R disc to work at 48X(With my overclocked Memorex 40X which is in fact a Lite-On LTR-40125S):

Brands made by these manufacturers should work:

CMC Magnetics - not all types will be readable. Only grade A media will work 100%.
Moser baer india
TDK
Ritek - only some types
acer/benq media

Firmware is stored at my firmware place at cdfreaks forum😉

Ermmm u can order up to 3 belkin nics?? I thought rebates are usually one per household/person/address.
 
I'm confused now about the limit on the Belkin NIC rebate. Here's what it says on the OM web site:


Belkin PCI Networking Card. Limit 3. Price shown reflects $9.99 Instant Rebate. $10 Mail-In Rebate.
Item # 20052014 , Style # F5D5000

But when you read the rebate form, it says limit 1. But the form is also a generic one for all Belkin product.😕
 
maybe each rebate form is limited to one belkin product. But we are able to purchase the max of 3 NIC cards?
