I have a lite on 40125s that is a 40x12x48 but nero only reads the burner as 12x as the fastest to burn CD's. Why is nero doing this and does anybody know how i can make it so it burns at 40x like it should

Can be two things so i will cover both.

1. Upgrade you version of Nero.
2. Enable DMA on all your drives.

I am running v5.5.90 of Nero and my Lite-ON 24x is detected as it should be, ensure you have this version. I am curious also, is it giving you a "Burnproof" or "Smart Burn" option when you are about to burn?

Is it possible that its only 12 speed media? Or you are trying to use CD-RW's? Or like everyone else has said, an old version of Nero.

Liteons have a feature that detects the quality of the media. It is called smartburn. For some reason the burner doesn't like the media for high speed burning. Sometimes nero gets stuck with a low setting if you put in low quality media. To fix it go in to the burner properties and uncheck smartburn. Restart nero and you should be set. Recheck smartburn.
