I don't know, my Quantum rebate experience for the Fireball LM Plus 30GB was the best I've had. I received a confirmation of my rebate request pretty quickly, and the rebate itself came a reasonable time later. Too bad the drive is as loud as an angry badger...

pete the new fireball as is quieter according to storagereview and thus its access times are higher or something. I called Quantum sometime ago when onvia had coupons and I wanted to get the fireball 30 lm plus and they told me they will not honor my rebate if I ordered from onvia forcing me to order from buy.com. I would becareful about ordering from staples and call quantum first before you try this. There is a 30 of 150 buy coupon and then u can get the quantum rebate too. The would be the safer road but cost you a tad more.

CarlGibbs,

You can find the older rebate for the AS here. I was looking for the same coupon on Quantum website yesterday and almost paniced when I didn't find it. Thank god for Google :).

Can't agree to good rebate experience with Quantum. Sent my rebate stuff in on 10/30, got confirmation all is in order but also notified of a delay, called in earlier January and was told, "I'm telling people it will be another 3-4 weeks, but I really have NO idea when the checks will be sent out. Haven't received mine yet .

I don't call three months+ when promised 8 weeks to be a good experience.

Bump ^ and just to say again what was said earlier for those who just read the last few posts: STAPLES IS NOT AN AUTHORIZED QUANTUM DEALER AND THEREFORE CAN'T DO THE REBATE do it through buy.com using a 30 off 150 then the rebate and you can get the good deal.

Still waiting for my:

$30 rebate - 30gb Quantum Fireball+ LM (mailed 9-9-00)
Received a postcard after 8+ weeks saying it was going to be another 6-8 weeks. The 800 # on the card is worthless (1-800-624-5545)

$40 rebate - 40gb Quantum Fireball+ AS (mailed 12-21-00)

I got this exact drive about a week ago. I love it, it's fast and quiet, and it was about 115 @ buy.com, back then at least.
