Stretched, you don't NEED the card but its free w/ the $50 rebate, basically. Otherwise, you may need to use the drive's DDO ( disk Drive Overlay) which allows the BIOS to "see" the drive properly. A lot of people shy away from them for that reason. Examples of a DDO include Western Digital's EZ BIOS and Maxtor's MaxBlast BIOS. Hope this helps.

doesn't matter if they're ata/66, i've flashed my 30gb from 66 - 100 no problem at all.

Imagine how surprised I was when UPS showed up at my door yesterday with ten of this drives from OD. BTW, order was C.O.D. Guy wanted almost $1600.00. Whoever placed that order on my account should realize that crap is not funny. I'm just grateful that they didn't have my CC info.
