40GB Diamondmax plus8 size being reported incorrectly?

I just bought a 40GB Maxtor Diamondmax plus 8 HDD. FDISK(and Max Blast II) reports it's size as 32248MB, even acounting for the 1024MB per GB isn't that low? The BIOS for two different board I tried this drive on report it's size as 33820MB.

Anyone else have one of these drives? What does FDISK report your HDD's size as?

I do not have one of these but that is very low. 32248MB/33820MB's are both low. You should only be losing 1 GB or so once the math is done....... 33820MB is actually a 33GB drive......have you formatted it yet?

Check the jumper on the back of the drive and make sure its not set to 32 gig setting for older motherboard support.

Yeah PaveHawk thats what it was, Damn it came out of a sealed bag and I never even thought about the jumpers 'till after I f'ed around with it in a couple of different PCs for an hour. 😱
