Gday again

another strange problem ive found...

Quake 2, average FPS = 40-50
Quake 3, average FPS = 90-120

both running in OpenGL mode

Anyone have any ideas? I play quake2 far more, and these figures dont appear to add up, and im trying to suck some more fps somehow.

Cheers

Mik

It has something to do with your config... I had this problem too and made myself a custom config file that made it so I went from a constant 70fps with a geforce2 gts to well over 350fps... I don't have access to my config right now but you can probably search around the net for some... or start tweaking it yourself.
I'm not sure what the exact command was... if I can find my config backed up somewhere I'll paste it here.

BTW: The config file was made by someone for I believe TNT cards to brighten up the game since OpenGL is darker than 3DFX... that should help in the search somewhat.

what res?

and how are you coming up with the framerate figures? Average, as in it looks like 40-50fps? or are you actually timedemoing these things

VSync could be a problem

some games if run with Vsync on will force buffering to the speed of vsync

let say using 85Hz refresh

using double buffering
your will be forced at 42.5FPS

i have had this sh@t with 3dwinmarks2000
