I just checked my 401k. From 10/4/02 to today (2 yr period), my return is 16% annual (32% over 2 yrs). I made $3220 in investment gain (not including company contribution).

Here is my CURRENT allocation:
Large cap 35%
Small cap 25%
Bonds 10%
CDs 12%
International 10%
Emgerging market 8%

I check the return of each fund and adjust the allocation every 3 months or so.
You are 12% cash and 10% bonds? How old are you?

I am 35 and all stock...

I had all my money in a rollover IRA that I self managed. I had about a 25% annualized return over the past two years, but recently switched to a professional money manager and stopped worrying about it.

I have an "investment for dummy" kind of book. It says:
If your retirement is 20yrs away, 80% stock and 20% bonds
10-20 yrs away, 65% stock, 25% bonds, 10% cash
<10 yrs away, 40% stock, 40% bonds, 20% cash

Hope that helps.

That's nice! Maybe I should put more in stock. I'm a little conservative.

Well, I changed them up, so I am putting 10% in each of the Bonds (20%), and 20% in 4 of the Stocks (80%)...

Lets see how that does.

+0.90% somewhere around there.

At least you're not losing $$$. After a blazing 2003, 2004 hasn't been nice for my funds 🙁

You could also put 100% on the Freedom 2040 funds, and let them do the work for you. They'll switch the bonds/stocks/cash allocation as the year goes closer to your retirement.
