400W Tt Power Supply enough?

I am building up a new rig with msi neo2 platinum mobo, athlon 64 3000+, 512 pc3200 ram, 200 seagate hd, GeForce 6800 and am planning to get the TT Tsunami case. Should i get the one that includes the psu (400W from thermaltake) or buy the one without the psu and get an antec 430W truepower which is about $10 more. Is it worth it to upgrade to the antec? I will also be overclocking cpu + ram and adding a dvd burner, tv tuner. I am building this on a budget so i really need the best value for the money.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with TT PS . . . HOWEVER . . . .

Since you plan to O/C, you want to make sure there is as much amperage as possible on the 12v rail . . . . TT has - i believe (only) 18a which may not be sufficient.

Make SURE the Antec (or whatever you choose) has more. 😉
(all antechs are not the same)

22A would be much better! I have a TT 420W pure silent pwr. Its 2 years old and still kickin.

I would stick to the Antec if you're going to bo overclocking at all, because of its much higher amperage on the 12v rail.

Antec has 2A extra on 12v rail than tt but i think i will stick with it since i am overclocking. Thanks everyone.
Edit: Just found out that they increased to 26A on 12v rail. Now im definetely getting antec.

wise choice for a serious o/c'er.

i myself have a TT 480w that is perfectly stable fueling my P4 2.8c@3.31ghz and my power-hungry 9800xt . . . . but if i really wanted to push it or planed on anything more than 2 SLi'd 6800GTs, i have to upgrade my PS . . . .

that 10 extra dollars may be well-spent!

let us know how it finally goes

good choice on the Antec... eventhough my TT 420 is just about enough i think for my system... i am ocing to 2.4Ghz... but for u with a 6800 card u definitly needed the Antec. Good luck.

Don't forget that the Antec True Power series have that one unique feature about separating all their rails so none of them are sharing amps. Haven't heard anything about the TT's, but that is one --HUGE-- reason why to buy the Antec if it doesn't break your budget.

I have the thermaltake 400w PSU that came wth my tower. Works fine but then i dont over clock.
I'm also hooked up to a DVD reader and a CD/RW drives. Hope that helps.
