400mhz fsb P4s question

Ok guys.... I'm an AMD convert so I haven't kept up with the P4 side in a while.

Ok so I just ordered me a Asus P4S8X.

Anyway if I order me a 2.0A now, would it be unresonable to push that to 533fsb? I mean chances are if I order a new chip I'll get a C1 core. Could I run that on default voltage? Or could I push it even further to say 150fsb?

Also what sort of RAM would you guys reccomend for what I'm doing?

Finally cooling is not a big issue I am slapping this into a watercooled system and my AthlonXP 1800 is running at sub 90 degree F temps all the time.

If you get the right stepping you may easily do 133 FSB or even 150.
at 1.5V my CPU is stable upto 2.61GHz (it's a 1.8a) if i push more voltage, i can go even higher.
i currently have it at 150 FSB for 2.7GHz

your 2.0 with some good luck could go somewhere around 3GHz give or take a few MHz. 🙂

oh yeah, i am using the stock cooler. 😀

You may not get the new C1 stepping, they aren't ubiquitous yet. Even so, you will almost surely get a pretty decent chip. My first 1.8a was kinda messed up, never even really stable at stock speeds, horrible overclocker. I returned it and got a different chip and its been pretty smooth sailing since then. It's nothing amazing compared to what others report, but I really have no problem with 2.5Ghz. With a newer stepping, even the B0 shrink ones, you should be in the 2.7-3.0 range.
