Looks nice and has some upgrades.

For a lot of people, it would be overpriced. If you're in the market for one, maybe not.

Things are worth as much as people will pay for them.

well, I am not dying for one. I just need/want a cheap car since mine is borderline "totaled." sigh, I need to think right, must not drift...

a total waste of freakin' time. my idiot friend bought one to race with and it spends about 60% of the time in the shop.

I have a convertible one. I was offered 10k from it a while back. We still have it. Great shape.

DRIIIIIIIIIFTO!

That's a nice looking car. But I mean, it IS a 20 year old car.

yeah, it's only worth it if you're willing to pay the Takumi Tax. Otherwise, it's really not that hard to modify an 89 Civic SI Hatchback to look just like it. For $4000 you can get a used 96 Honda Civic that is much more reliable than an AE86.

But it won't be rwd, nor handle like an AE86.

Is it worth $4,000 to you in order to buy a 20 year old car to attempt your hand in a fad racing style?

even with a new engine/gearbox (which it does not have), it's a 20-year old car, and without chassis restoration (some new weilding points and crap... saw best motoring done it on a R32 GTR), it's going to squeak and flex.

there are better cars for $4k.

you could get a 94 M-edition miata for that price that would easily blow away the AE86.

How does an AE86 handle?

Surprisingly, it handles very well and it's pretty peppy for a 115 HP engine. My friend bought one for $1700 with 120k miles. The paint was peeling, but everything else was still in very good shape. Would I ever buy one? No.

Pretty well actually. That's why they were so popular even before that stupid anime.
