The 400W Power supply is only tied up to 2 hard drives and a dvd & cd drive.

Do I really need to upgrade to a more powerful PSU or can I get away with what I have?...

It really depends on how many amps you have on your 12V rail(s).

I have a friend running an X1900XT on an Antec 350W that came with a case because the PSU has 32A combined on two 12V rails, so you will need to look at the sticker on the side and let us know.

Not only what Ulf said but also the quality of the unit.

My cousins 450w no name brand with much more Amps than his enermax, died under long time under 6800GT + Raptor death. Enermax handles it cleanly at 350w with less amps

Oops, I should've mentioned that too. I completely agree, a crap brand will not hold up, make sure it's a quality name you can trust like Enermax, Seasonic, Akasa, Antec etc.

as they said, it all depends on the brand/model and the rating on the +12V rail(s).

I have an original Antec TP 430W, I got an Ultra X-Finity 500W. I don't know which one I should use. I will build my system tonight with DS3+6400+1900XT. One HD and one DVDRW.

I plan to OC, but definitely won't be crazy. CPU would be 3.2Ghz, 1900XTX level for video. Please advise.

Depends on brand and +12V rails. Your cousin's enermax may have had dual 12V rails, meaning combined he still could have had more.

I'd go for a 430+ W new PSU at the least (from Antec, Enermax, OCZ, etc).

IMO, the PSU is probably the most important product in the rig. It gives life, and potentially death, to all of your components and a lot of what your computer can do depends on effective powering. You don't need one to have 1000+ watts, but you I'd make extra sure that its build is one of quality before using it to keep my components going.

Just to add more to the pot.
im running an x1900xt and my system pulls 350-370 watts during load. there?s no wiggle run for a 400watt power supply (you -20 watts because they are cheap. meaning 400 actually means 380).

If you chip is an intel variant. You will need a 500-600, but if its an athlon 64 variant I would still go with an minimum of a 500 for future proofing.

It does appear to be quality... But is it enough wattage? Can't make sense of the labels and ratings...
That PSU is absolutely fine. FSP is the same company as Sparkle, last I checked, and that particular PSU has 34A combined on the 12V rails which means it's actually better than mine (Akasa 460w with 28A combined.)

Stop posting, you have no idea of what you're talking about 90% of the time and you're the joke of this forum.

There are 350W PSUs more than capable of running the spec in my sig so a 400W PSU that's actually better than my 460W PSU would be absolutely fine.

Erm, gee, a 700W psu with 4x 12V rails at 72A total. I'm sure you wouldn't even be able to run an FX5200 on that.

I was inquiring about OCZ quality with power supplies.

I don't think they build them, but they are quality from the people who owned them and they do get good reviews.

Is that measured at the wall outlet? You need to adjust for the PSU's efficiency rating and turn off the monitor if it's connected. My UPS shows the combined power draw of everything at 390W on full load, but once those things are taken into account, the computer components use a measly 230W.
