Can't freakin' believe it. I was away from my desk and someone apparently grabbed it right off the desk, unplugged the sync cable, and took off with it. And this is on a Marine Corps base at the network operations center. So much for that "Marines don't lie, cheat, or steal" crap they keep preaching to us.
I have backups of all important data, but that's still a hefty chunk of change. Whoever took it will probably have to hard reset the unit in order to get access, but they still have the unit.
My sergeant had all personnel evacuate the building while a team came through to search through everyone's desk, but it was long gone. And my desk is right next to another Marine's who had an ipaq and a brand new VAIO laptop sitting right out in the open.
I suppose it's a little late to buy insurance on it now, too....
