the FSB of a P4 is 100 or 133 MHz, but then the Data is "quad-pumped" (4x).

So, you run the chip at 100 or 133 FSB, but the 4x data rate gives you a system bus of 400 or 533.

Profile button in the top right.

Also a side note, AMD is also similar as well only they are just double pumped so technically a 133fsb on the mobo = 266fsb. But yeah Intels chips either run 100 or 133fsb on the mobo by default with 166fsb coming with prescott p4s next year.

Hey thanks alot well i got a new question it maybe off subject but here are my system specs Link P4 1.6 256 of DDR memory Visiontek Geforce 4 Mx 420 umm more details in my profile but I am a heavy gamer and want to know what I could do increase performance? I know my video card is crapy so that is a start what should I get. I am a 13 year old kid so it will take some convincing to ask my dad for a Ti4600 lol. If you know a site with a good deal plz link it. And how is a geforce 4 Ti4200 128MB of DDR ram for 165 bucks is that a good deal?

The GF4 ti 4200 is a good card and unless you really have the money to fork out for a ti 4600, the ti 4200 is your best bet. Unlike the GF4mx card which is just a Geforce 2 core with some Geforce 3 capabilities in it, the ti 4200 is a *true* GF 4 just with a lower clock speed than the ti 4600(and if you get a 64mb version, obviously 64mb less ram than the ti4600...they do make 128mb versions of the ti 4200 though I believe).

But yeah, I'd really recommend the ti 4200 as a budget card. That said, if you can hold out about a month longer, ATI's new Radeon cards are about to hit the market...while the price vs performance is definately not worth it in my opinion, the new ATI cards, since they will be the fastest on the block for the time being, will more than likely cause Nvidia to drop the price on the whole GeForce 4 line.

So, if you can hold out another month/month and a half, you'll probably see a nice price drop on the ti 4200, 4400, and 4600 cards making them an even better deal. But yeah, switching to one of those three should net you a very nice boost in gaming performance.

I was also wondering would a upgrade to 512MB of memory be worth it ?? I see quite alot of people having that. Also how do i find out if my DDR memory is PC1200 or slower I don't remember when i bought it?

Intelman07: If I were you, I would wait until the Radeon 9500 comes out sometime in Q3 this year before upgrading your card.

I see from your rig that you're running WinXP, so yeah, 512MB of RAM would be good. I'd just get another 256MB of Crucial.
