Not humanly possible. FYI the human world record for 100 meters is 9.77 seconds.
However, you might be able to run 50 meters in 3 seconds if you are a cheetah.

50 meters in 3 seconds = 16.6 meters per second = 60 kph = 37.28mph
50 meters in 4 seconds = 12.5 meters per second = 45 kph = 27.96mph

According to google the fastest running speed record is:
10.35200 (meters per second) = 23.1567645 mph

Found this:

Johnson ran the opening 100 m in 10.12 s, achieved a peak speed of over 40 km/h (25 mph),

here. But that is Wikipedia...so probably incorrect. lol.

I couldn't find anything on peak speeds, just the record maintained speeds. 100m in 10.12s = 9.88 meters per second. 9.88 (meters per second) = 22.1009306 mph

Even if it's possible to reach a peak of 25mph, there's no way that someone could run for 50 meters at 27 or 37mph.

I agree with you completely.
