Hmmm... broadway photo is selling these at $469. HOWEVER, i do not know how broadway is as a store (if gray market or authorized dealer etc). Worth a look and you might want to check reseller ratings.

i just asked that question. i think i dealt with them before - i tried to order a sony mini dv camcorder from them that was about $150 cheaper than everywhere else, but they wouldn't sell it to me because i wouldn't buy their overpriced "kit" setup, when i told them i just wanted the camera, they said they just sold their last one.....@$$h@t$

I was afraid that broadway might be one of those hardsell camera places.

A quick search at deal time showed that the 'cheapest one at a trusted store' is $552

Dealtime search for G5

I belive the store is hookedontronic.com . I have never bought fom them before so a thorough reseach is in order.

You might also want to check out the Nikon 5700 (5MP) . This is what i currently use. The macro shots are pretty good, although i find that it is too slow for action shots. Cheapest one at dealtime is $469 .

They are SCAMMERS. They bait and switch on you. It lists as a low price, but it's missing everything. They'll never sell the 1 item that you want, unless it's components are going to cost you more than what you'd pay elsewhere.

I am partial to the Kyocera M410R. 10x Optical, 4MP, 3.3 fps until end of memory (2.2 with autofocus), 640x480x30fps video until end of memory, fairly fast start, fast auto focus, similar form-factor as Fuji S5000... All around $400.

The kyocera 640x480x30fps video until end of memory features is awesome.... I am trying to find a camera that is also pocket size and doesn't use a proprietary battery. I don't think they exist.

I like my Sony V1. Good all around camera, takes 640x480 Mpeg videos and hooks directly to a computer thru a USB port. The computer sees the camera as another hard drive. I have the 1 gig memory stick and the wide angle lens. I sneak the camera on roller coasters and shoot the entire ride. Also take it to concerts and shoot entire songs. Check out my POVs here.

Here's the review of the camera. It's actually last years model, so the price is dropping. The thing is, you have complete control over the shutter speed, and a bunch of other settings.

Heck, if you are going to get the Canon S410, then get the Canon S500 instead for just a bit more money. It uses the same CCD sensor as the G5.

Dell's having a big sale today. I just bought an S500 for $304 (including shipping and everything) from Dell.

To me, it's a question of size and how many manual modes you want.

I'd recommend spending a couple of hours prowling around www.dpreview.com. I opted for the S500 because I had already had a couple of Canon Sx00 batteries from my S230 and a 512MB CF card. Limited the field quite a bit.
