I just bought hardware for my newest rig. I'm excited cause I haven't upgrade my computer with my own money in the past 3 years. I've always gotten gifts and handmedowns. My setup is gonna rock my world.

Got the new ASUS w/ the nForce2 chipset. Getting 2x Corsair PC2100 256Mb Chips. Putting in an Athy +1600 and OC that shizzle to at least 1.8Ghz (which is only suppose to run at 1.4 i think)...with my Aopen GeForce4 MX 64Mb card. ::sigh:: And bought me a Plextor burner (24x12x48)for $40. Nice upgrade from my 2x2x8. 😉 And a ThermalTake Volcano 6Cu+ HSF. I only bought the mobo, ram, burner, HSF and spent 337.58 shipped 2nd day. Only paid 1.50 for shipping...

God I love googlegear...:;sigh:: I don't think 400 was ever better spent....

.......then I realized I still don't have GameCube OR Metroid Prime...well...christmas is soon. 😀

And so this isn't just about me bragging...what is the best 400 you've ever spent?
 
I had an AMD K6-2 475MHz and a Vodoo3 16MB card up until August.

I spent $400 getting myself a Athlon XP 1700+, Epox 8K3AE motherboard, 512MB of Corsair PC2700XMS and an AOpen GF4 Ti4200 128MB.


I was very pleased with my purchases! 😀

Motherboard $50
Retail CPU $75

I used googlegear for the CPU and Memory 'cause the shipping was only $1 for both items and mwave.com for the GF4 and Motherboard because googlegear didn't have the 2 particular parts I wanted.

If I had gotten the same HSF you did and the CD burner it would have been closer to $500.

That sounds about right. But the HSF was only 15 i think from googlegear and the plextor was 40 or 50...i forget...I WANT MY PARTS NOW!!!
