My dying 30 GB 7200 IBM drive (IBM 75GXP problem) needs replacement, and I was thinking about 40,9 GB 7200 MAXTOR.
Has anybody experience with it, 'cause I REALLY wouldn't like this happening again.
Thanks!🙁

Get the maxtor... u wont have any probs... although i did get a DOA hdd... this one is perfect... no probs! 😛

I have a maxtor 40gig diamondmax, and it works great. I still like the seagate drives because there electronics are completley enclosed. They seem to be more expensive though.

I bought that very drive, the Maxtor 40 gig 7200rpm Diamond Max 60 drive. Had it for bout 5 days now, and it seems everybit as fast as my old IBM 45gig 75gxp that died on me! Not a bad drive at all!

Had my Maxtor 40gb for 1.5 years now. Still alive and kicking. It currently in my system as a backup drive. Fast and Quiet. Also Maxtor's RMA is top notch.

I have 2 Maxtor 40 gig 7200rpm Diamond Max 60 drives running on a KT7a Raid board. Awsome performance, no problems whatsoever.

Got "Maxtor" 40GB retail kit from Staples(along with ATA100 controller card & rebate ;-)--turned out to be Quantum. So far so good (about 1 month). Nero reports 35 MB/sec transfer rate.
