there are others for 18 and 20 bucks... i wonder what are the difference... how do these compare to those motorola family band?
 
Yes. these are the ones you cna use to talk to the truckers.

Compared to the FRS band motorolas, they are much bigger and heavier, but have a MUCH better range. The range on the FRS ban ones is very limited. I know. I have four of them.

All of these CB's are reconditioned. That's what the (R) stands for. FAQ on (R)Not sure if it's worth it. They come with a 90 day guaranty. What do you think guys? Is it worth it? I would like to buy a pair, but are reconditioned CB handhelds worth 50+ for a pair?
