40"-46" HD 3DTV. Plasma or LED? ~$1,100

I am looking for a 40" TV that can handle fast action from video games and sports as well as 3D. I will hook up this TV to my pc and use it as a second monitor when I feel like playing games on a bigger screen. I have a room that has blinds and can get decently dark during daylight. This TV will not be mounted.

I have two major questions

Giving a price range of about 1000 to 1300, are there TVs that can refresh fast enough to watch sports, play games, and watch 3D movies?

Have plasma TVs fixed the burn in issue with video games as well as the half life of the TV?

Panasonic VIERA TC-P46ST30 46-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV (I understand that this TV is not 40" but the price is nice and the refresh rate is great but im just concerned about the life and burn in)

I have owned the 46ST30 for over a month now and love it. I used the break in slides for the first 100 hours and I haven't seen any burn in. The price is far less than what you mention too.

I just got a Bravia 46HX729 from eastcoasttvs.com for $1200, and it has far exceeded my expectations. The picture quality is stunning, and it has built-in wifi for netflix, amazon, hulu, etc.

If its not a super bright room (like with alot of sunlight coming in) go for the plasma. Yes, theyve fixed the burn in issues.

Have a 58" Samsung C7000 3d plasma hooked up to my pc in my game room. No complaints. No image retention, no burn in, no motion blur, no halo effect and excellent black levels. Far superior to my Sony 55" NX810 3d LED downstairs.
