The 4 year old was the good guy with a gun... the 2 year old probably tried to steal his pokemon cards or something. He was proudly standing his ground and protecting his private property.

From what I can find 22 states do not have child access prevention laws. In this case Virginia is one that does.

I would love to see data on whether anyone has faced charges on these crimes before something bad happened as a result of their failure to abide by the law. I would love to see data on rate of responsible gun storage before and after these laws and between states with and without them.

My suspicion is that these laws prevent few if any gun mishaps. I think a gun safety PSA would likely be more effective.

Too great a tragedy to live with, the parents should do the right thing. Put the surviving kid with a good foster family and kill themselves.

Just want to point out in not fucked up countries (like the one i live in) have strict pool fencing laws and if you dont follow them and some random child drowns in your pool you will get done for manslaughter.

No idea about the manslaughter bit but yeah having a pool with no fence opens the pool owners up for all sorts of liabilities in the US too.
