Well, I've seen pictures of a 4 way Crossfire setup with 3870 x2 s, that's four of them in a FOXCONN display motherboard somewhere at some exhibition on the internet, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the details or info about these new mobo's that ATI want's to sport?

I really would just get the latest ATI setup and go 4 way crossfire, in the near future ofcourse 😛

But the thought of it is just tooooo tempting!!!

Finally a system that doubles as a conventional oven, mind if I put my roast in there if you get one? 😀 Seriously the 2-3 cards behind the bottom one are going to suffocate and overheat. Maybe an eATX board would solve the problem for 4-way CFX?

I have the MSI K9A2 Platinum which has 4 PCI-E 2.0 16x slots (I did a little write on it here)- this is only possible on RD790FX chipsets. I am running Crossfire in PCI-E 2.0 16x16 mode atm, but if I were to put 4 cards in there the setup would be PCI-E 2.0 8x8x8x8 which is still very good as 2.0 8x is the same as PCI-E 1.1 16x. The RD790 boards have been out for a while now, your options are MSI, ASUS and Giga...oh and DFI however availability is scarce and the BIOS needs some work but I hear its typically a great OC'er from DFI.

That's four 3870's not 3870x2's. Four 3870x2's (if that even works) technically would be octofire. :Q

3870x2 is essentially two of 3870 welded together so you get 3870 x8 a bit of an overkill, don't you think (even with 3870 x4)?
