With the appropriate adapters, can you hook up 4 VGA/DVI monitors to one HD6970? I've got 3 old Dell 2405 monitors that I'd want to use in an triple monitor 5760x1200 eyefinity setup and a HDTV I currently also have hooked up via VGA.

Also, when you configure & setup eyefinity, does that only kick in during games? So when I'm in normal Windows would I still have 3 discrete displays @ 1920x1200 + the HDTV?

I'm planning a new build and haven't really looked at hardware at all in the past few years, so I need to catch up on all this ;)

Thanks!

Yes,

and You can use hotkeys to switch between different display groups. So you can have whatever setup you want on the desktop.

No, I'm only going to game with the 3 24" ones. The other display is a HDTV in another room that I use Windows Media Center on occasionally.

Right now, I've got a GTX 260 and a 8800GT running the 4 displays.

you will need 2 ACTIVE mini display port adapters.

My setup is almost identical to yours. 3 monitors plus a projector on a 6970
