4 ram sticks = oc death?

Im using 4x512 sticks of ram... its 2x(1024 twinx corsair stuff) i got my 3700+ at 2.64gh and it still runs the fan in silent under load...... my ram would hold back the overclocking tho wouldnt it?

kinda yea.

basically you have a couple million more transistors that each have a chance of not running beyond spec.

More importantly most chipsets these days are barely getting memory timing right as it is. Populating those far memory slots makes timing tolerances event tighter.

Honestly unless you are using exotic cooling and going nuts there is little point in overclocking. Performance increases are negligible and the stability of your system is poor.

Almost for sure... 4 sticks create excessive latency issues that you would have to "try" and overcome by severly detuning your memory settings.
