Thanks for the update.

I'll be sure to count the snow plows that pass by my house as well

No plows have been down my street and it has snowed 10-12 inches in the last 24 hours.

FYI: Springfield, IL has THE worst snow removal of any northern city I've lived in.

Assholes.

You've got plows?

Champaign-Urbana is pretty bad on snow removal. They pretty much just gave up around midday and I think it'll be over a week before they'll get it all removed. I was really spoiled back up in Chicagoland when it came to snow removal. Here, I don't think they'll have the roads open enough for the buses to start up again so I probably won't be able to get into the office tomorrow. Thank God I remembered to bring my work back home with me today.

You know, they're not stupid. There's probably a reason they're driving where they're driving. Maybe the plow guys are bringing the plows back to their houses so that when it DOES start snowing they can start plowing without having to drive to wherever the plows are stored in the snow.

Compare that to where I used to live in rural Connecticut, where we might see a snow plow twice a day during an 18 inch snow storm.

No, they are stupid. The storm was supposed to have started by now, so they scheduled the crews to be out on the road when needed. Since the storm is arriving late the guys are just driving around waiting for it to begin.

... how do you know they're just out driving around? Have you seen the same truck drive past again and again or something?

Champaign's snow removal is WORLDS better than Springfield's.

Champaign/Urbana gave up because the high winds were just blowing the snow back on the roads as fast as they removed it. From what I hear they will work through the night.

Nobody knows what Springfield is doing (other than having a circle-jerk).

bingo

Thats why I drove a 1500 Z71 when I lived there, I needed something to get through the 3 foot snow drifts on the county and outlaying city roads. They also suck ass at salting the main streets.

Yes. My neighborhood is off the beaten path surrounded by heavy woods on 2 sides and major roads on the other two sides. It's a little self-contained pod that's always serviced by a single plow. It's now been down my street seven times and I'm 100% sure that it's been the same vehicle the last 4. I didn't catch the number on the first 3 trips, but I'd bet my house it was the same one.

I have to say that where I live (town of 60k in Wisconsin) is not too bad, but the plouws in this state only run from about 6:30am-7pm, so if it comes down heavy during the night and you have to be on the highway at 5:30am.....good luck to ya!
