I have a Q9450 with a Gigabyte X48-DS4 and a Seasonic Energy Plus 550W PSU. The PSU has both 4-pin and 8-pin 12V power connectors for the motherboard. The motherboard comes with a protective cover over 4 of the 8 total 12V pins but the motherboard manual recommends using all 8 pins for Intel Extreme processors (130W).
Obviously the Q9450 isn't an Extreme processor but I plan on overclocking it moderately (maybe get it to 8x400 or so). Should I use the 8-pin 12V connector or is the 4-pin adequate? Is there any harm in using 8-pin over 4-pin?
