I just picked up two of these at my local Microcenter. You get 4 NiMH AA's (mine were 1700 mAh) and a 5 hour charger that does either 4 AA's, 4 AAA's or 2 9 volts - in either NiMH or NiCd! Auto-shutoff too. LED's are RED when charging, then GREEN when charged with ongoing 15 mAh trickle.

This is made by Telepower (Jbro) and the kit's store number at Microcenter is 953695.

The charger is the one on this page called "Speedi-Charger."

[EDIT]

Someone below says that the sale is good thru June 2, 2002. I'd don't know if that is true. My sale flyer says 5/19/02. But I changed the title just in case.

How are the quality of these batteries? The Hot Deals board, as a whole, tend to never say anything bad about the products when it's being sold at a tempting price. I remembering buying a Western Digital hard drive at Costco because the people on HD was going on about what a steal it was so I thought WD hard drives are great and bought one. Then a few weeks later, people on the General Hardware forum was going about how WD hard drive are absolutely horrible, dying a few months or so. Luckily, my WD hasn't died yet but the forum would benefit to hear unbiased reviews of products if possible.

And of course, thanks ww4397 for posting this.

Thanks for the post, WW4397.

Now I have a question, I picked one of these up yesterday and have been charging the batteries for awhile. Has anyone used this charger yet? If so did the red lights ever switch to green, and if so how long did it take to finish charging the 1700 mAh bastteries? Mine have been charging for about 8 hours and so far the LEDs are still solid red.

I just picked one up for myself (didn't have enough to buy more than that) but the charger said to only use Telepower brand batteries. I have some Rayovacs and since I can't use them in this charger, I have no need for it anymore. Before I put them on eBay, anyone here would like to buy it for $14 shipping included?

- Brand new unopened
- Charges in 5 hours - and charges AA, AAA, 9v NiMH and Ni-Cd (keep in mind you can only use Telepower batteries)
- Comes with 4 1700mAH Telepower batteries

If no one's interested, I'll put it on eBay.

I don't understand why you would only be able to use Telepower Batteries. How is the charger going to know the difference. I would imagine the batteries are pretty standard rechargables with a Telepower label on them. Did you try the Rayovacs?

Yes, I have. The red lights switched to green after about 5-6 hours. It took a while to cool down the batteries also (warm-hot while charging).

p.s. My first set did take longer to charge, but it didn't take more than 8 hours.

i have a maxell charger. the light never turns green, even after charging for days. and these are new charger/AA batteries. and the setting is on nimh (not ni-cad).

i take 15 pics on my canon A10 and the batteries die. Anything I can do besides buy a new charger and/or batteries?
