4 months without the NY Times

I moved in mid-January and never got around to getting a new subscription to the Times and to the Bergen Record, the local paper. I find to my surprise that I am saving a lot of time, and I don't miss a thing.

I've been reading the paper in the morning for like 30 years, so I'm surprised. I really thought I was learning stuff there.

I do miss a lot of stuff from the local paper, though. I'm going to resubscribe. Besides, that's where the ads are - though, I get the important ads from Hot Deals, AND I get them earlier. Hmm, maybe I don't really need that local paper?

Gave up the NYT when they stopped keeping opinion and story separate (again - they go through these cycles). Stopped the local after a while, too, since I can get the info online. Now when I'm asked if I'm uninformed or apathetic, I just say "I don't know and I don't care."

I get the local paper delivered only on Sat/Sun

So I can keep up on all the local and state corruption in politics and of course restaurant reviews!!!!

I like local newspapers because I like to know what's going on in my community, and it's typically factual stuff.

I've tried reading national papers, but they're so biased and full of sensationalism that I can't stand them. I use ATOT for national news.
